Africa Investor (Ai) and the Ministry of Tourism of Mozambique have joined forces to host the 2009 Ai Tourism Investor Summit and Tourism Investor Awards. The Summit is due to take place at the Joaquim Chissano Conference Centre in Maputo, Mozambique on the 26th and 27th February 2009.

The Ministry of Tourism of Mozambique, the platinum sponsor of the two day event, has partnered with Africa Investor to showcase Mozambique to the rest of Africa and the world as an "emerging international tourist destination". On 26 February there will be a dedicated gala event at which His Excellency Armando Emílio Guebuza, President of Mozambique, will launch the new Mozambique national brand. On the second day, the Tourism Investor Summit will be officially open by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Mozambique, Her Excellency Luisa Diogo. There will be other opening remarks from the Minister of Tourism and other dignitaries from the Tourism Industry.

The Ai Tourism Investor Summit in association with the Ministry of Tourism of Mozambique aims to develop tourism investment opportunities around large scale projects that will improve Africa's infrastructural capacities, and also spur the creation of sound bidding processes for large-scale international events such as the World Cup. The Summit will also progress investment strategies and advancements in sustainable tourism, focusing on opportunities, around 2010 and Africa's potential in hosting future global events; real estate and hotel project trends and opportunities, and Luxury and Eco-Tourism Projects in Africa.
